All entries will be judged from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15. All canned food must be entered in a standard jar. Standard half-pint jars for jellies, jams, marmalades, herbs, pickles, preserves, pimentos and relishes are acceptable. Commercial canning jars are not acceptable. Jars should be clean and free from rust. All jars should have rust-free rings and lids. No paraffin is accepted. Jar should be clearly labeled. Please pick up jars not eligible for District Fair at the times and dates specified above.
All eligible jars will be taken to the District Fair the following week. However since District categories are not the same, not all the jars will be sent. Check-out times for these items will be Sunday, September 26, 2:00-3:30 p.m. or Monday, September 27, 8:00-10:00 a.m. Persons desiring their food preservation products to be entered in the District Fair in Jonesboro must use standard Extension labels which are available at the White County Extension Office. Place labels on back of jar 1 inch from bottom. USE PENCILS ONLY TO FILL OUT YOUR OWN LABELS. Limit two dozen jars per person. All entries, except honey and dried products MUST be processed. Headspace will be enforced!
