RULES FOR EXHIBITING LIVESTOCK AND FIELD CROPS

 

General Rules

 

These Regulations are in compliance with Act 87/63,150/85, 1306/97, by the Arkansas Legislature through the State Livestock and Poultry Commission. 

Only Purebred, Pureblood, (one purebred parent) livestock or animals equal to Breed Association Herd Book quality are admitted. The only exception is poultry and rabbits

1. White County Fair, Inc. reserves the final and absolute right to interpret these rules and regulations and arbitrarily settle all matters in regard thereto or otherwise arising out of, connected with, or incidental to the fair.

2   The White County Fair reserves the right to amend or add to these rules, as they may deem advisable.

3.  Any person living, or attending school, in White County may exhibit and compete for prize money.

4.  The White County Fair, Inc. reserves the right to reject or accept any exhibit before or after entry is made.

5.  Each division of exhibitors will select a superintendent and two assistants. (Must be adults.)
6.  All livestock (Beef, Dairy, Swine, Sheep, Goats, Ponies, Horses, Mini Horses, Poultry and     Rabbits) must be pre-registered prior to the fair on an Official Entry Form and postmarked no later than 30 days prior to the opening day of the fair. This form must be mailed to: White County Fair Assn. Inc. Post Office Box 1605, Searcy, AR 72145.

7.  A limited number of Trailer/RV spaces are available on a first come basis. Application must accompany Pre-Registration Form. One space per family with a fee of $14.00 per day, or $70.00 per week. Renters will park in front of space. Livestock exhibitors will be given first priority. Fair Office will notify those who have been assigned a space.

8.  Only wood shavings shall be allowed as bedding in the Livestock Barns. The initial bedding shall be placed by the Fair. All additional shavings added shall be the responsibility of the individual exhibitors.

9.  Classes are divided into Open and Junior Divisions. (No animal or entry can be shown in both divisions.)
10. Junior Division is limited to exhibitors 9 to 19 years of age.  Exhibitors may exhibit no later than the fall after graduating from High School. Pee Wee Divisions are for those under 9.

11. Animals must be owned by exhibitor 30 days prior to opening date of the fair. Market animals are the only exception.

12. Animal and crop entries, having no competition, will receive ribbons and premium money according to discretion of the Judge.

13. All owners of livestock, or others having charge shall care for, guard, protect and preserve the same.

14. The White County Fair Assn. does not undertake and shall not be held responsible for any loss or damage to property of the owners thereof.

15. All Livestock Health Papers should accompany exhibitor at the time of arrival and be available at all times.

16. Exhibits must be in place by the time listed below:

17 - Check-Out Times: Entries listed in No.16 above may be released anytime after 9:00 PM Saturday, September 18. Can also be checked out on Sunday, September 19, as listed in schedule of events.

18 - All entries must be entered into judging book by the time listed in Rule No. 16.
19 - ANY exhibit not in place by the time listed in No. 16 above or removed from the grounds without approval of the appropriate superintendent, shall forfeit any earned premium monies.
20 - ALL competing entries shall be entered in the name of the owner.
21 - NO animal may be exhibited by a non-owner for purpose of earning premiums.
22 - Feed, watering equipment, halters and tie ropes must be provided by the exhibitor, except for entries in Animal World.
23 - Stalls and coops for livestock entries will be assigned, on a reserved basis, by the respective superintendents.
24 - An exhibitor can show only two animals in one class except where noted in group classes.
25 - Livestock must be shown (paraded) to be eligible for ribbons and cash awards.
26 - If animals of breeds other than those listed in the premium list are entered, they will be judged in their respective classes and will be awarded ribbons based on their merits but cash prizes will not be given.
27 - Only Exhibitor or Herdsmen will be allowed to stay overnight in cattle barn.
28 - Each exhibitor’s stall area will be maintained in a manner suitable for public viewing. Aisles must be kept clear of tack trunks, chairs, etc. to allow safe passage to the public. Radios will be kept at a reasonable volume.
29 - Grooming chutes, clippers and blowers will be allowed only in designated areas outside the show barn.
30 - Tie-out shall not occur before 9:00 PM Tuesday - Friday.
31 - NO SMOKING will be allowed in or around the livestock barns.
32 - NO DOGS will be allowed in or around the livestock barns.
33 - For safety of exhibitors and fair visitors, no horseplay will be allowed in exhibit barns.
34 - Beef Judging will be done in the order selected by the Beef Advisory Committee. This list will be posted the evening before show day.
35 - Premium Checks will be available at the Fair Office. Checks cannot be mailed. Checks not claimed and cashed within 90 days will be void.
36 - The decision of the judges shall be final and no appeal will be considered.
37 - All livestock shall enter the fairgrounds through the livestock gate, and livestock exhibitors will use that gate throughout the fair. DO NOT bring livestock in before Monday without approval of Superintendent.
38 - The fair board of any county, district, or the state fair reserves the right to have blood and urine laboratory analyses made from any animal at their fair. Any exhibitor   administering a drug to an animal which would render the carcass unfit for human consumption or any exhibitor of any animal producing an analysis indicating the presence of an unapproved drug that can result in a quantitative or qualitative change in the characteristic of the animal will be required to return all premium money and could be banned from further competition. Their name and the lab will be submitted to the USDA and FDA for further investigation and possible prosecution.
39 - DISCLOSURE: Any animal receiving medication for any life threatening disease or illness must be registered at the time they are entered in the fair.
40 - FITTING/GROOMING AND ANIMAL CARE: Fitting, grooming and care of all junior livestock entries is to be performed solely by the exhibitor whose name appears on the entry. Exhibitors may be assisted only by their immediate family (which includes Parents, Permanent Legal Guardians when documentation of guardianship is provided to White County Fair, siblings, aunts, uncles, and grandparents); the exhibitor’s County Extension Agent and/or FFA Instructor and fellow exhibitors who have an entry in the White County Fair Junior Livestock Show. The exhibitor must be present at all times during fitting when assistance is being provided. At no time shall an exhibitor provide payment in any form to anyone assisting in the grooming of an animal. Painting of switches, tail heads, topknots, and boning of legs are permissible.
