SPECIAL RULES FOR MARKET ANIMALS AND SALE

 

  1.       Market animal auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, September 17.

  2.       This show and sale is open to exhibitors in the junior division ONLY.

  3.       Only one animal per species, per exhibitor will be permitted in sale.

  4.       Exhibitors can only nominate 2 animals per species.

  5.       Participants must meet criteria in general rules No. 3.

  6.       Steers must be in possession of exhibitor by April 1.  This MUST be turned in to beef superintendent, or his designate, by April 1.

  7.       Hogs must be in possession of exhibitor by June 15 and reported to superintendent or his designate by June 15.

  8.       Lambs must be in possession of exhibitor by June 15 and reported to superintendent, or his designate, by June 15.

  9.      Goats must be in possession of exhibitor by June 15 and reported to superintendent, or his

            designate, by June 15.

 10       Animals shown in any other county fair shall not be eligible to show in White County Fair’s Junior Market Division.

 11.      ALL market steers, hogs, lambs and goats must be in place by 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 14.

 12.      Weigh-in of market animals will be on Wednesday, September 15. Check in with your respective superintendent for time and place of weigh-in.

 13.      Exhibitor, or their representative, MUST be present for weigh-in.

 14.      Judging of market animals will be as follows:

                Goats            -     9:00 a.m. Thursday, September 16

Hogs               -  11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 16

Lambs            -    2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 16

Steers            -    4:00 p.m. Thursday, September 16

 15.      Steers will be graded at the fair and must grade U.S. Select or better to participate in the sale.

 16.      Hogs will be graded at the fair and must grade Choice No. 1 to participate in the sale.

 17.      Lambs and kids will be graded at the fair and must grade Choice to participate in the sale.

 18.      The fair association will not be responsible for the sale of any animals other than those meeting the grade outlined in rules No. 13, 14, 15 and 17.

 19.      The sale shall be made up of the top ten animals from each species. Fair Board and Market Animal Committee reserves the right to adjust the number of animals sold at the sale.

 20.      Gilts, ewe kids and ewe lambs exhibited as Market Animals may not be exhibited in breeding classes.

 21.      To qualify for this division, market animals must meet the following minimum weights: Hogs - 190 lbs (with maximum variance of 10 lbs); Lambs - 85 lbs (with maximum variance of 5 lbs); Steers - 900 lbs (with maximum variance of 40 lbs) at weigh-in; Goats – 50 lbs (with a maximum variance of 5 lbs).  All market animals that are deemed eligible will be sold.

 22.      A representative of the White County Fair will inspect the animals to determine if they are likely to meet the requirements for this show and auction.  This inspection may be performed at a time and place determined by the representative.  Each registered participant will be notified by mail of this inspection.  This inspection is a must attend event.
