YOUTH SHOWMANSHIP AND HERDSMAN AWARDS

1.       All youth exhibitors are eligible to compete.

2.       Showmanship will have three age brackets – Pee Wee: 5-8; Junior: 9-14; and Senior: 15 through youth division eligibility.

3.       Showmanship and herdsman competition will be conducted for each of the following: Beef, Dairy, Dairy Goat, Sheep and Swine.

4.       Any entry in the Beef, Dairy, Dairy Goat, Sheep or Swine division may be used during their respective showmanship division.

5.       Herdsman judging will be on the exhibitor’s efforts, during fair week, to keep stalls or pens for their livestock exhibits clean and the animals will groomed.

6.       Showmanship judging will be based on the following principals of showmanship.

a.       Grooming of animals

b.      Exhibitor’s ability to handle animal

c.       Exhibitor’s ability to set-up the animal

d.      Ability to follow judge’s instructions

e.      Exhibitor’s appearance

f.        How well the exhibitor and animal perform together
